first, go to settings on phone. then to usb. tick the box for usb data if it isn't already. if that doesn't solve the issue then try it in steps.
step 1. turn off phone. use USB cable that came with phone. plug cable in to computer, then into phone. let laptop do its thing.

step 2. follow step one above. open control panel on laptop, and go to devices and printers. click add new device.

step 3 follow step one. open control panel and go to device manager. if your phone is showing in there, UNINSTAL any drivers related to your phone. then go to...
step 4 follow step one and if needed scan for hardware changes. your laptop should auto detect the phone and install the appropriate drivers.
