Why am I unable to rollback to 8.1 from Windows Mobile 10.0.14342.1001?

Unable to rollback to 8.1 from Windows Mobile 10.0.14342.1001

Thanks in advance for the help.

I have a Lumia 640 that was recently upgraded to 10.0.14342.1001. We are planning to hand the phone down to our child and would like to roll it back to 8.1.

I've downloaded the recovery tool, but it doesn't give me an option to download the 8.1 OS. It's greyed out.

My apologies if this had been asked. Just unclear on how to rollback at this point.

I have had a search around, regarding your problem, and have found very little information :eck:

I would suggest you try a logical path.
I would leave the insider program, by selecting production builds. Reboot the phone, and then try Windows Device Recovery Tool. I haven't seen any other post about your issue, and those relating to the 640, have had no issues going back to 8.1.

If you get stuck, why not join the forums and have full access to the site, and the device specific threads.

I've tried that as well and the same result. I also scoured the interney and no luck.
