Why are achievements separate in same game on Windows 8 and Windows Phone?

I just installed Wordament on my Windows 8 desktop and played one round. I ended up getting two achievements, which I already had when I played the game on Windows Phone.

Is there a reason why the achievements are separate and not integrated with the Windows Phone version of the game?

Will the same thing happen if I install the desktop version of other games that I already have on my phone?

Because this wasn't in the design of the game.

They are two separate games.

Hopefully we see devs in the future design for a seamless multiscreen experience.

Thanks for the explanation. It would be nice if Microsoft figured out how to integrate achievements on its own games across its own platforms.

So miniclip games are now free means i can win achievements on both ? that means more gamerscore

I noticed this a few days ago with Galactic Reign. I'm kinda disappointed that the experience isn't seamless.
