I have started to install Windows 10 and the pre installation check that says "working on it" was still running after 45 minutes and did not appear to be doing anything. What can I do about it?

It can take a long time to upgrade.... hours even, I would just leave it alone. I may not look like it's doing anything, but it probably is... Doing anything now to interrupt will most likely cause corruption of files.
