Why can't Cortana hear me?

Windows Central Question

cortana cant hear me why

Cortana will search for info when I type a sentence but if I speak a sentence there is no searching for a sentence

Is your volume turned down or off? Are you talking desktop or mobile device? What particular device? check the TTY/ TTD in settings
