Why can't I acsess the functions on my Nokia Lumina 530

I have been having some storage issues on my 530 and need a new SD card but today nothing works, apps, phone, text, email and I can't acsess photos etc to delete stuff or back up anything. Can this simply be a storage issue?

Your phone may have resources tied up trying to scan a borked SD card,

Power down, pull the SD card and reboot.
