Windows Central Question

I cannot view my pictures on windows 10.

I recently upgraded to windows 10. All the pictures that were on my computer before then I am not able to view. Open option "photos" states "it looks like we don't support this file format" and "windows photo viewer" says "cant open this picture because either photo viewer doesn't support this file format, or you don't have the latest updates to photo viewer".

Any pictures I download off my phone after the update I am able to view. It is just those that were on the computer before the update. Please help!

Download Photoshop from the Microsoft store. If you don't like modern apps try GIMP, Paint.net, or ASDSee. Also here are some photo editors.

This issue used to persist around 3months ago when I was on preview. Look for any updates available for photos in the store also windows update, if not, restart.
Even then if you cant, then try reinstalling.

No! I am really frustrated as well. Ive downloaded almost every photo app and it still wont allow to view my pictures. I even have pictures on external hard drives and when I try to view them, I get the same problem.

I have tried to install almost every photo app. Including all the ones you mentioned without any luck :-(

No updates for photos available. Do you mean reinstall Windows 10? How would I go about doing that?
