why do i need internet to listen to bought music

I bought a few albums through XBOX music on my Nokia Lumia 1520 and it said it downloaded them, but I tried to listen to them on the plane and it said it couldn't play them because it couldn't access the internet. Why?

Maybe they weren't actually downloaded then. Tap on where it reads "showing", for music on your phone, sd card, streaming, or all music. You'll only need an Internet connection (and an Xbox music pass) for the streaming music. Any music on your phone or sd card should play.
