Why do my files keep disappearing?

I use a nokia lumia 510 and yesterday when l went to my music all the songs disappeared but after checking in the phone memory when connected via usb l could locate them but could not view them from my phone. The same thing happened with my pictures today.

Is it stored on phone memory or SD card?

Reboot the phone and open the programs that would read media and let them scan...

Try a sync with Zune for desktop...

Same here. My music, video and pictures grey out after adding them to the SD card. Sadly, there seems to be no help. Who uses a media less phone? I'm seeking to sell for half the price I bought the 625 barely a week after I bought it.

​This seems to be a common problem across these Windows Phone devices. I think drag and drop, combined with impatience in letting the media index is the main culprit.

I used to have the same problem on my defected SD card. Beats me, the defected SD card somehow messed up the phone memory too.
