Why do people feel like they have a right to shove Android and iOS down our throats?

I mean, it's just insulting. What I have on my smartphone should be up to me. Why do so many people have to attack me for refusing to use iOS or Android? I never consented to my choice of smartphone being a democratic decision, but I really never expected the amount of flack I would be taking from the people who use those two, or how they'd gang up on me. Sometimes I feel like it was easier not to have a smartphone at all, than to deal with the way people react when they notice I have a Windows Phone.

Just shrug it off.
Never understood the idiotic OS battle myself.

Don't let this be important or divert your daily activities.

Not sure. I use both Android and IOS (and have used a Windows phone as well), I have no problem with any of the devices and wouldn't have a problem if I were to get rid of one. A phone is a phone and that's how it should be... not a war on which is "better". I don't know though, people are people, they choose sides on everything now a days.

Yeah, for me at least, the devices aren't the problem. In principle, they're basically all ARM devices with similar amounts of power and similar functions that can run similar kinds of apps. I get much more use out of my Surface Book than I would out of pretty much any smartphone.

But I do use Windows 10 on both my laptop and desktop, and Windows Phones generally have more desirable default behaviors for me as a result. They use Bing out of the box, they sync photos to OneDrive out of the box, Cortana has all my appointments and such from the desktop... everything generally plays nice with my PC. Because I spend the majority of my time using Windows 10 on a desktop machine or Surface Book, the app gap isn't enough to negate that basic advantage of a Windows Phone being a really good companion to Windows 10.

I mean, maybe it's not good for everyone, I just think it's good for me.

I gotta say that I read lots and lots of comments in these and other forums from over-enthusiastic Windows fans giving their best attempts at shoving all things Microsoft down everyone else's throats as well. Being opinionated isn't a one way street. The problem is that the Android and Apple fanbase is filled with far more members....and opinions. Just like what you want. It's just a phone. 😁

People sure take this stuff personally, don't they? 🙃

Yeah, at times they really do. I kinda understand the attachment people develop to things. What's going on here is something different, though. A percentage of people identify themselves with their possessions. When one of those possessions is deemed obsolete by a majority, those people feel like a part of themselves has been deemed obsolete as well. Those people talk of not being a sheep and of being true to their OS....in reality, true to their identification. On the flip side, those people who have identified themselves with products that are very successful sometimes convince themselves that they are just as successful because of the success of their choice. Those people tend to brag with smartphone confidence. Both groups have members who like to offer their opinions in forums. Ha ha
All of that is strictly my opinion. 😁

It does make for an interesting forum.

The os battle will live on forever, unfortunately. People always seem to think their way is best and that's it. I love all the os for different reasons. I honestly don't care what other people choose to use as it doesn't impact me at all. I am interested in all technology and wish people would see the light to just help others with their experience as opposed to ridiculing.

It's not just iOS and Android Fanboys. It can be Windows Mobile fanboys too. Hell, I've seen Ubuntu Phone users do this. Just ignore them and use the platform that YOU like.

We visited a Verizon store today to quit our plan and told them it was because Verizon doesn't support Microsoft Windows mobile phones. We were told by the service agent that Microsoft is dying.
.
Wow. That says alot about Microsoft's lack of advertising and public relations.
Best Wishes

This is the equivalent of the Mac / PC wars of a previous era. Certain users will feel the need to evangelize their platform.

...to which I've always responded that a Macintosh PC *is* a PC. (VS a mini or mainframe or server).

On top of which they both use derivatives of UNIX. (VMS for Windows and BSD for Macs.)

People are always afraid of what is different.

Embrace that.
