Why does Cortana have a British accent?

I just upgraded my phone from 8.1 to 10586.

In the maps app, Cortana (whom is the voice for the voice guided navigation) has a British accent and I don't see any way to change it to the regular Cortana voice. Any ideas?

The Microsoft Maps app actually uses the Text-to-speech settings found under Settings > Time & Language > Speech.

Here is where you can change the default voice for apps. The default listed there may depend on your region. Mine shows Microsoft Zira and Microsoft Mark, and I have Zira selected.
