Why does Cortana have to have locations on?

The "location" option needs to be turned on to use Cortana. However, Location really hogs a lot of my battery power. Wouldn't it be nice if she could stay on, even if the location option was off? :straight:

locations is used for geo-fencing , location based reminders and to give you accurate weather for your locations :smile:

Its still in beta so we could expect those features in future.

That would be nice if they changed this. My iPhone friend says that SIRI works even if their locations are off.

I think it's mainly because of location reminders. But even so, it shouldn't constantly use location services when it doesn't have to
