Why does Cortana not work right

Every time I put in a new topic to get new from Cortana never gives me updates on it. I have to manually look for the topic this is very annoying. When I first started using Cortana it work great I still get updates from the early topics I put in it's the new stuff I can't get updates on any idea was going on?
