Why does my Lumia 640xl keep switching itself off

Not much else to say. It just keeps turning itself off, and so I have to enter my pin again.

Lock screen or Power Off "turning itself off"? My Lumia 925 did it a few times, it would randomly have my lock screen go on when I upgraded to the latest update before Windows 10, I'm assuming it's a software issue, not a hardware issue.

Yes Knuckles245, it actually powers itself off. I have only had the phone for a month, and have not updated software or anything else.

If its giving too much trouble try resetting.

Have you tried what Amit suggested? If it's possible to get a replacement, if resetting doesn't work, that's the route I would go.

Yes Knuckles245 its actually an issue which Microsoft has addressed, For which they released an important software update to stop Windows Phone from restarting. Please check the below link for more details and follow the instructions

Thank you all for your kind advice.
And thank you Lumia_930 for the link you posted above. Yes, the phone did need a "critical update".
If anyone else has the same problem, the link you sent was so easy to follow.
Hopefully my phone now wont re-boot 12 times a day !!!!!

My AT&T 640XL was resetting it self last week, but a reset seemed to help. This week it was having reception issues, so I have a replacement coming in a few days. I hope these fixes get pushed out quickly, as AT&T takes forever to OK any updates.
