Why does my Nokia 520 go black during phone call and not come back after close call

When I make a call the screen goes blank, at the end of the call it takes ages to come back so I can press key numbers etc. Driving me mad!

has to do with the sensors or lack of them? In any case on my 635 I have the same issue. What I do? Press the lock button as soon as I enter into a call. If I want to use the keypad or end the call, simply unlock the phone and do it. This keeps me from losing my mind lol
