Why does my phone show a flash/setting on the screen?

my phone would not come on showing a flash/setting on the screen

Was listening to a song and all of a sudden the volume kept going on to the highest and would not stop. when i tried the soft reset it didnt come on again rather kept showing a flash and setting thing on my phone

Welcome to Windows Central.

Not sure what you're referring to as "flash and setting thing", but I suspect that it has something to do with your volume up button being stuck - it's possible that what you're seeing is the hard reset confirmation page (or something like that) which involves the volume up button in a button combination sequence.

You could in the meantime try cleaning up the volume up button (since it seems that it has been shorted or is stuck) by using either a piece of thin paper and inserting it into the sides of the button or by using a gust of dry air (not from the mouth).
