I’ve been comparing traffic stats across platforms and noticed a consistent issue:
This creates some challenges because:
From what I know, GA uses direct tracking via scripts, while Similarweb relies on ISP data, panels, and sampling. That could explain the gap, but it still raises questions:
Has anyone else here experienced this big difference?
Do you think Similarweb stats matter when evaluating a website’s credibility?
Is there a way to make Similarweb reflect traffic more accurately?
Would love to hear thoughts from others in the community who work with analytics, websites, or app businesses.
- Google Analytics reports thousands of visits daily.
- Similarweb shows much lower numbers, sometimes only a fraction.
This creates some challenges because:
- Outsiders (clients, advertisers, investors) often check Similarweb instead of GA.
- Competing sites sometimes look stronger simply due to Similarweb’s estimation methods.
