Why doesnt Cortana work?

New hp laptop with windows 10. Cortana does not respond. Region/time is correct to US.

You may have to manually turn on / setup Cortana before she starts working. When Cortana is turned off or disabled, it's just a search box.

If you're wanting Cortana to respond to "Hey, Cortana!", well, that has to be activated as well. Open up Cortana, then go to the Notebook and open Settings. You'll find it there.
