Why doesn't Microsoft explain the differences between RT and 8?

That's because iOS looks nothing like OSX, so they don't need to.

Lion was released this year, about 3 years after the iPad's first release. They ported the iPad launchpad to OSX, not the other way around. There has always been a clear distinction between OSX and iPad. The iPad was always an overgrown iPhone.

Windows RT is going the other way - taking desktop OS and squeezing it in mobile. For that reason there needs to be better education.

I fail to see how the date is was done or the order that it was done makes any difference as to whether one looks like the other or not.
