Why doesn't my back-light turn off while in a call?

My backlight not off while in call

While I'm talking in phone call, my screen light doesn't get off and it touches automatically to any button on the screen.

Take a soft cloth made for screens and clean the area around and over the proximity sensor. Oils from your skin can build up there and play tricks.

If that doesn't work... Try a Soft Reset. Hold the Volume Down + Power buttons until the phone vibrates and reboots (about 10 seconds). This will reboot with a clean system memory and solves many glitches.

Last resort: Hard Reset.

Power off the phone > hold Volume Down > press Power > keep holding Volume Down until you see the exclamation (!) screen, then immediately release the Volume Down

Now tap Volume Up / Volume Down / Power / Volume Down

You should see the spinning gears and your phone will reflash the last OS version held in recovery. You do loose data, but get your phone back. Sign into your Microsoft Account and restore your backup during the set up.


If the problem persists, you have ruled out software. Seek repair or use you warranty if you have one.
