Why don't I have an option to text a contact ( who has a mobile number listed)?

No option to text a contact ( who has a mobile number listed)

I imported my contacts from my previous phone.
When I search through the address book for <contacts with numbers> some of them show an option to call or to text.
But some only show that I can call them; there is no option to send them a text; how can I convert these so I can text anyone?

Just a guess, but they may have transferred in as a home or office number instead of mobile. Try changing the type of number.

If your Contacts are now syncing to an Outlook.com account, you may find it easier to view/edit them in a browser on a PC. Or the PC app People.
If there's a lot of Contacts and there's many that need changing, you could try exporting them from Outlook.com as a csv file, editing them on a PC and re-loading them into Outlook.com.
