Office apps don't work after updating to Windows 10

I updated from Windows 7 Pro to 10 on my Dell laptop. Everything seemed to be working well for several weeks. At that point I no longer could access Office 2013 apps or files created in either Word or Excel. The app opens and then immediately closes.

Go to the add/remove programs applet in the Control Panel, select Office 2013 and click "repair". That should fix any issues the upgrade caused.

Failing that, you may wish to uninstall and then reinstall office - your settings should remain between installations.
