Why has my PC started to boot up extremely slowly?

My PC Start-up has become extremely slow and "stepped" - but if I press the reset button it boots up regularly. What is the issue? Can I reinstall Windows 10 to ensure all is running as it should?
I don't want to use the reset option as this would require considerable reinstatement of many apps.

I had this problem after upgrading so I did a reset wiping out everything on the system, this had a dramatic increase in speed and also gave me a chance to decide what applications I really needed. Just make sure you back up everything that's needed and have drivers for your hardware.
