Windows Central Question

I have a Nokia lumia 830 which now has a black screen and won't do anything. I can see that it's still functional because I have tried to call it and it rings. So it's working fine and only had a black screen. I've tried restarting it, soft resetting and hard resetting but no change. What can view do?

Are you using a screen protector or a case? If so, is the proximity sensor covered?

If you are not using a screen protector or a case, is the area over the proximity sensor dirty?

Try cleaning the screen and see if the screen lights up. You might also want to shine a bright flashlight over the proximity sensor to see if it lights up the screen.

If the proximity sensor still does not work, then you will need to have the device repaired.

At this point, I hope it is within the year warranty period. It could be a couple of things, none of which are good.

Digitizer? Mother board? You need to get it to a repair shop. Call your carrier or Nokia/Microsoft help line.

Ha sit been dropped? Even if its just on carpet or a rug? Screen connector could be knocked out of place. Its a rough guess. Also try a hard reset (volume button up and power button) it will cause all data to be lost but would also reset the phone to factory settings. Try to save all your progress first by using the laptop/computer and log into your account. From their you can back up your phone. Good luck and keep us updated
