Why is Cortana coming on while in a call.

I have a Lumia 950xl. Cortana has recently started to switch in while in a call. If I am speaking to someone, Cortana will try to respond which is very distracting.

Check if your display is shutting off when you put it near your face answering. If doesn't work, clean top screen area where proximity sensor is.
If you are using earphones, check plug and home key on cord, maybe a fautly cord

what OS version is your phone on? Are you answering while on speaker?

this is a weird issue, never seen that before
