Why is my mic only working on voice apps and not when making calls?

Issue with my lumia 720

its not after a software update or any but my phone's mic suddenly stopped working. It works perfectly on voice recording whatsapp and simialar apps but the issue is only on when making calls. Is this any hardware fault? How do I rectify this>

Probably a hardware damage. If you are still under warranty, take it to your nearest Nokia Care Centre.
