why is my nokia lumina 630 recieving duplicate text messages

I bought my girlfriend a Nokia Lumina 521, and I have the 630 model. Hers is unlocked, mine is not, and they both currently have T-Mobile as the service provider. A lot of people I have talked to have not had anything good to say about T-Mobile including her, but I haven't had any issues with them or my service until now (over a year). We have both been receiving duplicate text messages ! The duplicate texts are sometimes 2,3, or even 4 repeats, and they are not always from Nokia phones and/or T-Mobile originating messages. The duplicates can come even hours later, but they have the same time stamping as to when they were originally sent! We have disabled the text messaging back up settings, and have even tried both soft and hard resetting of our phones to no effect. Can anyone help us to stop this annoying problem. We both otherwise love our Windows phone, and welcome all suggestions. thanks!

Talk to T-Mobile, it could be a carrier issue

I had t mobile look into this matter today, and they claim to have reprogrammed my phone as well as my girlfriends. The issue had went without an event until several hours later today. The occurances of duplicate messages (incoming and outgoing) have returned. I have also noticed that some contacts on my phone have been appearing with "+1 (area code) xxx-xxx appearing with their number when they call me. This is despite the fact that they are local numbers and are represented as such in my contact list. When I try to call them I am forced to include the one with there's code in order to complete what should be a local call. Is it possible someone has found a vulnerability in the windows phone operating system and/or platform? I would like to return to the former peaceful operation of my otherwise

Well if a hard reset hasn't solved it then it definitely doesn't look like a software problem. Do you have International Assist enabled under Phone settings? Also can you try disabling text messages backup?

I'm with Verizon and duplicate texts have been happening off and on for years. Got them with Androids and my year and a half old WP 928. I get them from Att and Tmob. Don't think I know anyone who has sprint. I figure it's just something to live with.

I've been getting duplicates when on wifi calling. Are you switching over to wifi calling (having it set to wifi prefered) and maybe not noticing it?
