Why is my Surface Pro 3 returning to the start screen randomly?

Hi. I know it sounds a little crazy but recently my SP3 has been returning to the start screen(bottom left window icon) randomly frequently. Please tell me i'm not the only one, and help.

What I've noticed in my surface 3 is that whenever I start it up it opens to the desktop but start menu is open. Don't know if that's a feature or bug. I can easily exit though

you're not the only one. This is another one of the thousands of various issues with windows 10 / surface pro 3 in particular. It's not really a bug though, it's by design, that is, if you just woke it up from sleep. What you're experiencing is you'll be doing something mundane, and then out of no where you'll start menu will appear, and you're back on the desktop. If that's the way it's working then yeah, just more M$ problems.
