Why is split-view swipe to open not standard in UWP?

Why is swipe to open hamburger-menu/split-view not a default thing in Windows 10 mobile? Both iOS and Android has it on most apps when the app has a hamburger-menu. It's much easier to use the app with swiping than reaching for the button in the top left corner, and it's a simple solution. I know you can create it yourself when you make an app, but would have been so much easier if it was available "out of the box"
