Why is the Lumia 830 faster than 630?

I have a question about the performance of these two Lumias.

Both are based on the Snapdragon 400 SoC with the same GPU.

When i read some 830 reviews, and looked at the benchmark results, i have noticed, that the Lumia 830 is in almost all categories better, and get higher scores. But why? The Lumia 830 has to handle more pixels (720p) than the 630 (480p).

Does the Lumia 830 SoC maybe have some optimization included, that the Lumia 630 is missing?

Well tbh real life performance of 830 ain't all that good so don't go by the benchmarks. Also considering denim is probably a lot more optimised for 830 than 630 cld make a difference Besides having 1gb ram will definitely help.

I believe there was another thread on this elsewhere on this site.

Worth a read.

Main problem is about the RAM. On 512mb devices(630) is only single-channel 1x512mb RAM module, on 1Gb devices(830) there is dual-channel 2x512mb RAM modules. You can read more about this there on PC side (On mobile devices it works same):

Thanks, that makes sense!

But its great to see, that our 630 is at a similar level as the "affordable" flaghsip ;)

No one here knows. Dual channel, more RAM, faster memory or flash memory chips. All possible. Probably all a little. Maybe even CPU clocked slightly faster while on paper looking the same.

Only Microsoft knows!
