Why isn't Cortana working?

why cortana is not workin???

I'm in Sri Lanka, south Asia. my phone is nokia lumia 520. i update my phone with cyan. but cortana is not workin. i change my country.but stiil its not in my phone. please help meeee......

Search something along the lines of "Cortana region" and you probably will find all you need to know.

Cortana is not available in your region IIRC, only in a select few countries.
In the United States in 8.1 and India, China, and the UK in 8.1 Update 1.

Change region, language, speech settings to match one.

As xandros9 suggested, you will need to change all the 3 viz. region, language, speech settings to US in order to enable Cortana for Cyan.

Cyan is a firmware, not a windows version, you have to be on Windows Phone 8.1 to have Cortana and have all 3 locational settings changed.

Also Location needs to be enabled and Speech needs to be set (and downloaded) to selected countries as well.
