Why isn't my Band connecting to my desktop?

Windows Central Question

Band not connected

Connecting the band to the desktop. Getting the message "Your Microsoft Band is not connected - Please plug in your Band"

It seems to be charging OK and the rest of the options work OK (Settings, About, Dashboard, My Profile).

This started happening after downloading the latest Software update.

Turned it off and back on, restarted the PC etc - no change

Any ideas?
 
I had the same issue after a recent update, I rebooted it but didn't totally reset the device.
For now I just sync with phone and charge via PC
