Why isn't my email syncing with my laptop?

Email syncing problems

Whenever I delete or read an email on my phone from any of the three email address I have, the actions I performed on the phone do not appear when I check the accounts on my Windows 8.1 laptop. It only happens when I refresh my accounts on my phone, but even then it doesn't happen instantly. Does anyone know if there is a fix to this? Or am I just supposed to resync the email accounts everytime I check them, delete emails, or read them. None of my accounts are linked. Thanks!

where are you reading them on your laptop? the outlook app too? it may be your phone and/or laptop is having connection problems or restricted background tasks
