Why isn't my Nokia Lumia 630 connecting to my laptop?

Nokia Lumia 630 not connecting to laptop

my nokia lumia 630 (windows 8) is not connecting to dell laptop windows 7.
I want to copy content, files from phone to PC and vice versa, but neither phone memory nor data card detected by laptop.
pls help

Check your cable. Or try different cable.

By default your computer should be able to detect it as portable devices
