Why isn't my phone turning on?

why is my phone not turning on ? it a lumia 925

its a just a blank screen, its all black and the home button blinks when i press the power and volume down button

Your battery is completely out, needs to charge the phone for sometime, before the screen can become active. That's what the blinking windows logo mean.

Hold the volume down and power button until you feel a vibration and then let go and should power back up
