Why isn't the clock working anymore?

About a week ago my notebook started losing time. I initially thought it was a failing cmos battery, but it happens even when the notebook is left on. If i watch anything in full screen, the screen turns off to save power, or i play a full screen game, the clock doesn't keep up. Sure, fixing it temporarily is easy, but highly irritating. If anyone has a fix i'd love to hear it.

I'm running Windows 10 FYI.

I remember facing this issue on my four-year old laptop. It's hardware related, because it remained even after I reinstalled the OS from scratch. But I never got around to fixing it since the laptop itself gave out.
