Why Microsoft? Why? Allow attachment or doc on email

Re: Why Microsoft? Why?

You can attach docs to emails but you have to go into the Office Hub, tap and hold on the document, tap share and then pick the email account you want to send it with, that attaches the document to the email.

Re: Why Microsoft? Why?

reading through this thread it becomes obvious how big of a perception problem windows phone has.
It is always "OMG WHY CAN'T WP DO THIS 'BASIC' FEATURE THAT Everything ELSE CAN?!"
when in truth "everything else" often can't or requires the same workarounds.

Confirmed.

Re: Why Microsoft? Why?

are you telling him how to correctly hold his phone ?

I don't see a problem with that.

It's now been explained a few times that he can got to the Office hub and send the doc from there, including in the first reply.

No word of thanks, no "oops, I didn't know that", just an inaccurate perception that Windows Phone can't email a doc.

"You're using it wrong." is a perfectly valid response.

I know since i purchased my 1520 that i can email from the hub the doc file. But my issue is attaching directly from the email client, which in my opinion a basic task that i used to do it in Android 4.2... That's why this thread was made.

We've already told you the correct way to attach a document to an email in Windows Phone so why are you so set on wanting to do it the opposite way?

This thread needs to be closed.

Temperatures are on rise in the north america, this thread is no exception!

Re: Why Microsoft? Why?

I think you guys are missing the point...he's already stated that he knows how to e-mail a document from the Office Hub, but that's not what he needs. E-mailing from the Office Hub creates a new e-mail, but he already has an e-mail conversation going and he would like to attach the document to that e-mail thread. Regardless of whether or not this is a "basic feature" of the other OSs, this seems like an obvious thing that can and should be implemented. It's really not that inconvenient to have to start a new e-mail thread to mail the document, but at the same time, you shouldn't have to do that in order to get work done. I don't think that it's an unreasonable request.

Exactly. I think it's a needed feature and I think we'll get it in WP8.1, because it just makes sense. No need for anyone to get angry here.

We all realise that but it won't be changed if the OP complains on here, will it?

With that logic, then we should just delete 70% of the threads on this forum. They're not going to change anything, right? This is a discussion forum—a place where discussions take place. If you don't like this thread, nothing is forcing you to read it.

Re: Why Microsoft? Why?

Even if it were a basic feature in other OSs (iOS 7 can't do it, like somone stated on the first page here; Android needed 4.2 to get there), the OP is using WP so it's irrelevant what can be done on ther OSs.
Also, we CAN attach doc files to emails (which has been explained more than once). If there was no way to do so -> complaining would be legitimate. But there IS a way to do so, so just quit whining.

Re: Why Microsoft? Why?

Why Microsoft does not allow attachment of doc files on the email client? that's basic task in iOS and Android.

I think that this feature will come with the GRD 3 update that is being rolled out right now.

Re: Why Microsoft? Why?

This thread is good evidence that modern touchscreen devices are not necessarily easier to use than traditional PCs.

Nope, I have the GDR3 Developer's Preview on my phone and I cannot do it.

To be fair, I think this would be a nice feature. There have been times where I have been composing an email on my phone and wanting to attach a document and having to cancel the document and start over by attaching the file from the office hub. I just agree that OP framed his argument incorrectly by claiming it would grant parity with ios and Android in this area if it were added.

I agree. This is what I want and need for my work.

Re: Why Microsoft? Why?

Have you tried saving the file to skydive, and attaching a link to your email? That should work too.

You're missing the point, if the OP wants that as a feature then there's the suggestion box app and the uservoice forums for that.

Re: Why Microsoft? Why?

Very interesting discusson. As far as myself, I learned a few ways to do something I didn't know before. So thanks to all of you. We are never always right, or always wrong. But if we listen carefully we can always at least see the persons point or view. Even if we were not looking for the information you never know when you might need it. Even if you never thought you would. Thanks again.

Re: Why Microsoft? Why?

I think if he didn't go left to assume other platforms did this, we wouldn't be upset
