Why need Office 365 subscription?

After upgrade from WM8.1 to the latest wm10 I can't edit or create existing / new office files.

I got this message:



What's that?
I have L925 with UK region, WM10 1511 10586.11

WP81 had older Office apps installed that allowed basic editing. When MS released newer Office apps on iOS and Android, they required Office 365 subscriptions. Now W10M has the newest Office apps, and the same requirement.

But I thought that you weren't supposed to need a subscription on Windows 10 Mobile.

But my college has WM10 too and he can do anything with my excel files...

It's still on my 640 with WM10. The apps have been separated Word, Powerpoint, etc. I created a Word document with it and saved it.

Hmm... have you updated them, etc?

They used to have that requirement, but it was fixed I thought with the most recent build/update.
