Why won't my phones screen turn on?

My phones screen won't turn on.

Hi. I've been having problems with my Nokia 521 for a few days now. Every time i try to turn it on it won't- it'll just vibrate, and this morning i heard my alarm go off but the screen was black. The day before i was having problems sending texts or calling, so when i went to restart it, that's when it happened.
This has happened before, and its really annoying.
Does anybody now whats going on or how to fix it?

May be just a loose cable if functionality comes and goes on the screen.

At the cost of 521's it probably isn't worth a major repair bill... But if you know someone who fixes phones or there is a local shop... Just opening it up and checking connections should not be too costly.
