Why won't my Surface Pro start?

surface pro will not start

My surface Pro 3 was working fine and then shut off . I have it plugged in to the power source but I cannot get it to restart Is there any way to force start it other than the start button?

Hold the power down for 10-15 second and that should do a soft reset.

Also try the volume down key and the power key for 10-15 seconds. If you are on preview, does your keyboard light up?

Another option is to hold the power button down for 2 second, and release for 2 seconds, continue this motion (its about 2-3) before the device will boot up, however this has known to take longer

Mine does this and i do the volume up with the power down for 20 sec.
Why do the do this is it normal do i need to return mine?
