Why won't Skype on my PC start?

[Windows Central Question]

my skype for PC would not start...

only rotating points, no user name and password field...It is the newest version.
7.8.80.102
there is firewall installed, but skype.exe is not blocked.

Is there any meaningful explanation why is this happening? I went through Google group discussion, but there is no real answer to it.

No idea what's wrong, but there's a newer version out there, I have 7.10.64.101 installed, so you can always try to uninstall and download it again.
