Wi-fi & LTE Question

I have Wi-Fi On but LTE is still there. Does this mean it also uses LTE as well as Wi-Fi? How can LTE go away once I turn on Wi-Fi and Vice Versa? On iPhone and Android if you turn on Wi-Fi then LTE goes away and Vice Versa.

I can't recall where I read it, but apparently when connected to both a WiFi network and a cellular data connection, the phone will use the WiFi network as primary.
