When I'm on WI FI I cannot receive voice mails or picture messages.is this normal? Also is your data being used up if you don't have your data turned off while on WI FI...thanks ahead for the help.

What's your carrier? I know that at least T-Mobile requires you to have your data turned on to send/receive picture messages... No, your data isn't being used if it's turned off.

When connected to wi fi, the 920 will always use wi fi first and not the data connection (no need to turn data off when wi fi is connected).

Thanks.so that means my phone is using data to retrieve voicemails and picture messages.because when I turn my data off when on WI FI I can't get them.as soon as I turn my data back on the voicemails come in and pix message....ummm.

I can only guess that voicemail and messages are service provider specific to your phone via data, rather than through wi fi which is internet specific........ (not sure if this true, or makes any sense!)
