"Wifi not available" Surface Pro 4

My Surface Pro 4 (i5, 8gb RAM, 256gb SSD) has stopped connecting to wifi. All updates have been applied and the problem persists despite numerous reboots.

I've tried turning it on in settings - the switch turns green as if wifi is running but the message "Not Available" appears on the wifi button. Re-checking in Settings shows wifi as Off

Re: "Wifi not available" Surface Pro 4

Have you tried uninstalling it from the device manager, reboot and have Windows detect new hardware and reinstall the driver on its own?

Re: "Wifi not available" Surface Pro 4

Thanks for the suggestion - tried this and on rebooting the wifi button has disappeared completely and "We couldn't find wireless devices on this pc" is showing on the Settings page.

That's normal. You need to go back to device manager and perform a "look for new/changed hardware". It should then find the adapter and install the appropriate drivers.

Thanks - tried that.

The Marvell AVASTAR Wireless-AC Network Controller is showing under Network adapters but still getting "We couldn't find wireless devices on this pc"

Re: "Wifi not available" Surface Pro 4

I had a feeling that might be the case - thanks for your efforts, though. Much appreciated.

I'll try a wired connection this evening and see if there are any new drivers online.

I wish you good luck, mate. Even though a repair or even replacement under warranty isn't an issue, it's still annyoing.

Re: "Wifi not available" Surface Pro 4

I had this happen with my Surface Book on one particular WiFi network. It would connect for a couple of seconds, then the adapter would disable itself.

Haven't connected to this network since replacing the Book with my Surface Pro 4, so not sure what the actual cause was

I did a Recovery / Reset this PC from Settings - Updates and everything is working fine. No idea what happened - no new programs installed and no viruses. Bit of a pain setting everything up and installing all the programs again but delighted it's sorted.
