Hey guys, any guesses as to how I can connect to a WiFi network with a hidden SSID?
It's what I have to use at work so I currently can't use it since I can't find a way to manually set up a WiFi connection. Thanks!
Not an oversight, just something they probably put off. A lot of people, Microsoft included, take the position that "hidden SSIDs" are a myth for security. Seeing as that is their position, they're not going to immediately support it.This is a huge oversight to me. If Dell is going to wp7 for their business I would think at they have hidden wifi networks and those networks are relatively essential. I connect to a hidden ssid at work and require it because of reception issues. If they don't add tuis soon I will have no alternative but to return it. Which makes me sad as I do like the phone.
Yes, WP7 definitely needs to support hidden ssids. Microsoft's sentiments on hidden ssids are immaterial. This is a huge oversight to me. Is this only an issue with just seting up the connection? I.e., if you can "unhide" the network in order to set it up on the phone, will it then work once the network is hidden again?
Not a stupid question. The answer is no. You can verify on the Microsoft Social Answers WP7 forum (I would post a link but, um, I don't have copy and paste).Sorry if this is a stupid question, but can anyone shed light on this for me?
