I'm planning to buy an HTC one m8 for windows to use in Canada with Koodo. Should I buy the at&t or verizon version so I can get LTE here? Microsoft website says the LTE band supported with this phone is 700/aws/1800/2600. None of these frequencies' are for Koodo. I think its 1700/2100 for Koodo LTE.

Is anyone using the m8 windows version here in canada? What should I buy?

I don't think you will get LTE using the HTC One M8 on Koodo. The AT&T version should work in 3G with Koodo. Verizon versions of any phone likely won't work in Canada.

Just called Koodo tech support. - they said it should work (Verizon HTC m8) with Koodo. I've checked this with her multiple times and she says it will work according to the emulator they've.

So may be I'll get LTE?

It sounds like you're good to go then. I wouldn't worry too much about LTE unless you would like to blow through your data limit in a couple hours or less. I still recommend avoiding Verizon. The expansys site is a good referance tool to see what may work on each network. They don't have the M8 though.

That's my worry - since I'm buying it from ebay, I can't return if it doesnt work. I bought a AT&T lumia 640 which worked great for LTE. Not sure about the M8 from verizon. I definitely need LTE as the speed difference is quite noticeable on lumia 640 and my usage didn't go up any higher than normal.

Is anyone in canada using a verizon M8 with telus or koodo? The seller himself is getting LTE with rogers - so I assume it will work for me??

I can't find reliable information on what bands telus/koodo support and I assume the bands can also vary per city. According to GSM arena, the AT&T version supports LTE bands 2,4,5,7,17. Telus likely has at least band 4 and some sites say they maybe adding band 7. So I'm changing my answer to probably. Rogers and AT&T often seem to share the same brain, so AT&T phones usually work with Rogers.

I agree that LTE is awesome. If you transfer at an average rate of ~20 Mbps you'll transfer 3 GB in about 20 minutes. I found this out the hard way once when I created a hotspot for my laptop and it decided to download updates. :)
