Will Lumia 920 get Cortana?

My brothers 925 recently got the denim update and it has Cortana, since the 925 and 920 are near enough the same phone does it mean that when my 920 (eventually) gets the update will I get Cortana?

Cortana isn't tied to specific phones, it's tied to the region you're set to.
As long as you have Windows Phone 8.1, if your region and speech settings are to US English, Cortana will be enabled. (my 920 has Cortana)
If you have Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 (often mistaken for just Denim), more regions are eligible like the UK if I recall correctly.

You can enroll in the Preview for Developers for early access to Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1.
It's safe for the most part since the Update is a minor update to 8.1. (My 920 runs fine like that)

(although I cant guarantee safety if 10 appears on the Developer Preview months from now, so you may or may not want to turn it off after taking the update or two)
