Will the Nokia 630 soon become outdated?

I am interested in buying my first smart phone. I am very interested in the Nokia Lumia 630 because of its incredibly low price and basic specs. However, I looked up apps I would like to use in the Microsoft Store (whatsapp, spotify, 6tinder) and all of them say "To use this app, upgrade to Windows 10.". I find this odd since Windows Phone 10 is still beta, I believe? Possibly it tells me this because I am visiting the store from my PC. Anyhow, my fear is that most apps will soon only function on Windows 10, which I have read may not become available for the 630, and I need to buy a new phone again. Is this a realistic thought? Is it the reason the phone is dirt cheap right now?

630 is already outdated, get a 640

The 630 is only a year old? I think Microsoft is just trying to prepare their pages for Windows 10. Also, if I'm not mistaken, it is able to upgrade to Windows 10, when it comes out.

Yeah after 10 came out the web store for WP has been different. Here in the US a 635 can be had for 39.99 and the 640 is 79.99. that extra 40$ buys a lot more phone for the money.

It's an ok phone, especially if cheap. The 8.1 Store is still going relatively strong.

it should get Windows 10 Mobile as well.

get it if the price is low enough and you are ok with the hardware compromises.

however if the 640 isn't much more expensive where you are, it's worth a go.

The Microsoft website states (I have too few post to be able to link): "While we're working hard to make Windows 10 available for other Lumia devices, the following is a first list of Lumia smartphones that will receive a free upgrade when available: Lumia 430, Lumia 435, Lumia 532, Lumia 535, Lumia 540, Lumia 635 (1 GB RAM), Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 735, Lumia 830, and Lumia 930. Features may vary by device. 8 GB of internal memory required.". The overlapping feature seems to be the 1GB RAM.

I am surprised at how incredibly low those prices are in the US! I need to buy from the German Amazon where the 630 costs 90 euros and the 640 140 euros. This puts the 640 in the same price range as a few Android phones that are considered superior (and are somehow relatively cheaper in the EU than in the US). Another option would be to go for a slightly slower 53x model that costs about the same as a 630, but will be updated certainly.

LOL you dont get S400 Quadcore, IPS clearblack display and Gorilla glass 3 that cheap !!....
Its still good !
If you can live without FFC and rear flash then its still good ....
L630 user .
1 year and counting..............

However if you can spend more then I would definitely recommend you to buy a newer model

Get 640. It will get windows 10 update soon
