Will there be a replacement for Movie Maker?

I've read that with the release of Windows 10, Microsoft will end the support and even uninstall the Windows Essentials released back in 2012. I know it's outdated, but I still use the Movie Maker included in that suite. I think it's a simple, yet powerful tool to edit videos for free.
Will Microsoft offer a desktop alternative to this great software? (not Movie Moments, for example)
If not, or even if they will, what other editing video software do you recommend me that is available for free? I am a casual video editor, I only use it to create occasional videos out of recordings and pictures.
Thank you!

I'm surprised nobody has any input on this. It would be nice to have a video editor. Hopefully they do make one soon. I'm a little nervous to download free third party software.

Downloaded & upgraded to Win 10 & movie maker is still there for me along with Live Mail, 2012 version is still available to download if your upgrade deleted/uninstalled this program.
It's Media Centre which is removed.

Yeah , MS should have universal version of Movie Maker, windows live photo gallery and others of their apps.
