Will there ever be touch optimized version of the edge browser?

will there ever be touch optimized version of the edge browser?

There has got to be a **** ton of people out there with Surface and surface type devices out there. Are there even plans to give back a touch optimized (swipe, scroll tabs on bottom etc.) version of some browser? I need to know whats in store for the near future because without knowing, I will be forced to go back to 8.1. This is a total deal killer for tablet folks.

I thought Edge was supposed to be touch optimized, though still needs completing.

Supposedly Firefox released a version designed for Windows 10 today that is supposed to be more touch friendly, but I'm not sure what they consider touch friendly. I've not actually looked at it yet. Hopefully it will work well, but can't say until I've tried it.

Totally agree! Want to swipe back and forth... want the easy to use large tab bar (and easily hidden so no wasted screen space), etc... common sense tablet features! Surface is a big deal for Microsoft... love my surface! But the edge browser might be a windows 10 deal-breaker. May have to uninstall update.

While Edge does not support swiping back and forth for next/previous page in history, Chrome does. Chrome offers better swipe gestures than any other browser that I have tried so far. The new Firefox 40 made for Windows 10 also does not support touch gestures.

Since I don't like giving my information to Google, though, I've been running Comodo Dragon, which, while based on Chrome, has all of Google's data collection tactics disabled by default in the browser, as well as adding extra security for safer browsing. It may or may not be everything you want, but it works well for my needs. Since it's the only one that has some of the features you may want, you might give it a try.

Who are you? why do you keep trying to answer my questions when you clearly have no answers. And obviously you have never used IE 11 Metro on a tablet because it is heads and shoulders above chromes touch gestures. Is there anyone with a clue out there?

Actually, I think Edge gets a first set of major updates in November. Biggest thing that's known about the update, though, is that it'll get add-on support. So hopefully some touch-friendly gestures gets added too.

I was stating that it is way above the rest on Windows 10. Not for everything that exist out there on all OSes of course. I have the answer and have given it to you. It just isn't the answer you like. The gestures YOU want do not exist on ANY web browser that runs on Windows 10 at this time. Future improvements are coming.

I have tried to explain that to you multiple times, and for some reason because I do not point you to some magical browser (that doesn't exist) you accuse me of not having a clue. Understand that what you are asking for will have to wait until it actually exist. Microsoft isn't Domino's and they don't deliver in 30 minutes or less guaranteed.

Microsoft has also stated, as have I, that touch gesture improvements are coming in future versions. So, yes, there will someday be a touch optimized version, but it will be the same version that is also capable of being optimized for the desktop. People who have phones in 2016 that run continuum will be thankful that it will be able to do both.
